Started by designers, Barbara Wilkinson of Barbara Wilkinson Jewelry, and Raoul Calleja of Vernakular Photo Designs, in the summer of 2011, ID Pop Shop was made to be an upscale market featuring designers and artists that sell a high quality and high fashion product. As independent business owners who rely on direct-to-customer retail events to sell their products, they weren’t finding a lot of events worth doing. Retail events for independent brands are limited to weekend markets, flea markets, or the ubiquitous shopping parties that combined drinking and shopping. These shows were becoming less appealing and less lucrative. To make matters worse, the shows were expensive and not well marketed. They recognized an absence of luxury in the market community and wanted to give these independent high-end designers a better venue to sell their product. “It’s an event organized for designers by designers”, says Wilkinson.
This pop-up doesn’t have the same feel as many of the other markets throughout New York City. Visual presentation, designer spaces, and the quality of product are all chosen and designed with very specific detail to give the feeling that you are in an actual shop; not at a street fair.
Wilkinson and Calleja specially curated this event so that no customer will leave disappointed. The caliber of these independent designers is higher than you’ll see at any other New York market and is an event New Yorkers should not miss.
Participating in the ID Pop Shop are over 20 local independent designers selling the widest variety of product that you will not find at any other shop. ID Pop Shop will feature products from women and men's apparel, bath & body products, accessories, jewelry, and more.
