June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- With the massive rise in unemployment in recent years thanks to the economic downturn it´s refreshing to be able to find a job sector that´s pretty much unaffected; indeed still actively recruiting.

What is it?

After considerable research we find that this fairly unique sector is in the medical industry and more specifically the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) sector.

Thanks to the ever aging population and the general policies of most insurance companies who are no longer willing to pay for extended hospitilization there has been a huge increase in the demand for nursing care at home and this demand is met by Certified Nursing Assistants. These assistants are those people who help patients, both young and old, with their everyday tasks such as feeding, washing, taking medication and mobility, and the best part is that thier training can be completed within a few months.

Every CNA must be certified by the state as competent, having undergone a state verified training course, either on campus, in situ (such as training in a hospital) or via the internet.
At the end of their training they will be expected to take and pass a two part examination on what they have learnt, both theoretical and practical and then they will be available for the job market.
CNAs are only allowed to work in the state in which they took their course and passed their exams although transferring to a different state is usually only as complicated as filling out a few forms.

There are a number of requirements before anyone is allowed to apply for one of these positions; a minimum educational requirement, no criminal record etc. but assuming you meet these requirements then becoming a CNA is a good career choice. The average starting salary is around $28k and this will rise rapidly as you gain more experience and qualifications.

However, this career is not for everyone. You need patience, an understanding of unwell people´s needs and the ability to communicate well. If you possess these qualities then why not consider a change of career and become a Certified Nursing Assistant?
