GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND — Patton (www.patton.com)
Because it can operate over copper twisted-pair, coaxial or CAT-5+ cabling, the CopperLink™ 2174 eliminates the expense and hassle of replacing installed cable infrastructure when inter-connecting IP-enabled devices.
Manufactured in the USA, and now shipping worldwide, Patton’s barrier-breaking innovation in Ethernet extension technology boasts line rates up to 168 Mbps and distances up to 10,000 feet (3 km).
"I am honored to represent Patton in accepting this prestigious award,” said Johnnie Grant, product manager for the CopperLink™ brand. “I believe the acknowledgement is well-deserved. Because it combines multiple physical media options with extreme speed and distance profiles, I am personally convinced the CopperLink 2174 is the world’s most versatile Ethernet extender.”
Providing four Ethernet ports with a built-in switch, the 2174 can aggregate and transmit IP traffic from four sources (light/motion sensors, video cameras, entry-card readers, personal computers, and so on) over a single Ethernet connection.
Patton’s model 2174 enables network engineers to leverage existing cable installations to:
• Convert legacy coaxial CCTV circuits to Ethernet/IP
• Replace serial RS-232/422/485 circuits (twisted-pair)
• Improve the Ethernet speed/distance performance of CAT5/6/7 segments
Customers can specify BNC, RJ-45 or terminal block connectors when ordering two-packs of the CopperLink™ 2174.
“Patton has proven its dedication to quality and excellence while addressing real needs in the marketplace. I am pleased to grant our 2011 Product of the Year Award for the CopperLink 2174 Ultra-High-Speed Ethernet Extender,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “Patton's commitment to the advancement in the communications technology industry is commendable and I am looking forward to more innovation in the future.”
The Third Annual Cable Spotlight Product of the Year Award winners are featured on the Cable Spotlight Website and published in its e-newsletter.
In related news, Patton's CEO Robert R. Patton—joined by such noteworthy speakers as former President Bill Clinton—recently addressed the 2012 Conference of the US Export-Import bank.
Last month Patton announced the CopperLink™ 1314 that exploits ubiquitous twisted-pair infrastructure to interconnect LANs up to 3.4 miles apart.
