Bright Ashaka, President of Alpha 4 Real AC and Heating said earlier today that allowing your Evaporator Coil to get dirty and clogged could damage your A/C unit.
“When your Evaporator Coil becomes dirty, your air conditioning system is forced to work overtime just to cool your home or business. When that happens, the lifespan could be shortened,” he said in his Katy, Texas office.
The Houston air conditioning repair expert said that when you have dirty or clogged Evaporator Coil, air flow throughout your home or business is stopped.
“When your Coil becomes dirty, it stops your A/C from being able to circulate cool air through your home. Some rooms may become hot and humid. This could result in it becoming uncomfortable to stay in,” Ashaka said.
He said another reason for ensuring your Evaporator Coil is clean is cost.
“Dirty Evaporator Coil will force your A/C unit to work continuously. As your air conditioning units work, dirt accumulates and if not properly cleaned could cause your system to work continuously thus raising your monthly electricity bill”, he added.
Ashaka said dirty Evaporator Coils could make your system not function as designed.
“Sensors in your air conditioning system alert your A/C unit that the rooms are cool or have reached the set temperature. When this happens, your system turns off. If your system is unable to adequately cool your home because your Evaporator Coil is dirty, your unit is forced to operate continuously,”
He said that maintaining your A/C is less costly than replacing it. “New unit could run you up to $9000 or more depending on the system and capacity so it is always less expensive to maintain the unit you have than to purchase a new one,” Ashaka added.
