19th Annual Blueridge BBQ & Music Festival in Tryon, NC Set to Kick Off on June 8th & 9th, 2012

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 5, 2012 - Pit Bulls “Up In Smoke” BBQ Team is preparing, gearing up, and mentally focusing on the upcoming 19th Annual Blueridge BBQ & Music Festival in Tryon, NC this coming weekend, June 8th & June 9th, 2012.  This event is one of the largest local events that teams have an opportunity to compete in (outside those competitions such as Memphis in May, the American Royal, or The Jack).  With 65 professional competition teams registered in this barbecue event, the competition is sure to be fierce with some of the finest teams in the country competing for up to a $20,000.00+ purse.

According to the Steering Committee members of Tryon, NC, the 2012 Blue Ridge Barbecue & Music Festival (http://www.blueridgebbqfestival.com/) is shaping up to be the best ever, according to Steering Committee members who are hard at work to produce the exceptional event slated to take place at Harmon Field in Tryon, NC. The 19th annual Festival will be in full force from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday (actual competition day for the barbecue teams).  We have an awesome site location near a running creek and just absolutely stunning scenery – one of the most beautiful competitions we have the opportunity to attend.

The cook-off is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (http://www.kcbs.us/teams.php?page=6&alph=P&id=63238). In all KCBS categories, there will be payouts in the top ten places.  Aside from the regular barbecue competition, Smithfield and KCBS have invited the Blue Ridge BBQ contest cookers to participate in the Smithfield Rib Super Series. The Smithfield Rib Super Series (http://www.kcbs.us/smithfield.php) is a points chase competition across 10 KCBS sanctioned events with “bonus money payouts” for the top three finishers in their rib competition for those teams who are entered into the Smithfield Rib Series.  Pit Bulls “Up In Smoke” (http://www.pitbullsupinsmoke.com/bbq-competition-stats.html) will be one of those teams competing in the Smithfield Rib Series.

To re-cap, and as we will always say, we are preparing to approach this competition in true “bull style” putting our heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into every aspect of coming out a winner.  We do our very best at every cook and that is all we can do.  However, we pray that the winning scores in Tryon, NC this weekend are in our favor.  We are thrilled to have two of the most fantastic KCBS reps overseeing this event, Philip & Kathy Brazier – the best of the best.  They are so very sincere in their jobs and awesome with the teams.  Looking forward to seeing you both there this weekend!

We look forward to more fantastic camaraderie and laughs with our BBQ Brethren between the serious moments of preparation for the cook.  The friends we have made and those we will make help to make these barbecue competitions fun and exciting – no matter what the outcome.  It is a brotherhood – it is a sisterhood – it is a family and we all praise those who do well at the end of the day and accept whatever blows on the cuff that we others may personally experience always knowing we have that next competition to prove the judges otherwise.  As the Pitmaster always says, “You are competing against yourself!”
