AJ is the youngest blood on their roster of hit makers. “I believe great things will be coming from this young man,” says Pyramid president Allen Jacobi. Destined to blaze far past his roots in the Sunshine State, Young AJ’s first ray of impending superstardom is an inspirational anthem “On My Job” featuring Miami’s own hip hop veteran Trick Daddy. The record will be available on iTunes and every online retailer in June. “I’m very proud to have an artist of Trick Daddy’s caliber as not only the featured artist on my first single, but also a supporter and friend,” says Young AJ. Young AJ is also set to release his highly anticipated third street album/mixtape Just Like Music, hosted by DJ Smallz aka Mr. Southern Smoke. The street album is due Tuesday, June 5 and is followed by his self-titled, full-length album set to drop early 2013. “It is important for today’s youth to realize the importance of doing a job and doing it well,” Young AJ contends. “It is the key to your future, whatever the job may be.” In celebration of the Pyramid/INgrooves/ About Young AJ Born A.J. Crawford on the West side of Tampa, AJ’s upbringing consists of both well-known hustlers on one side of the family tree and prominent local political figures on the other. Influenced by the two extremely different worlds, Young AJ borrowed elements from both and put it into his music. In December 2009, AJ dropped his first official single, “Run It Back,” a club track featuring a sample from Cheryl Lynn's high-energy 80s R&B single “Encore.” The single led to the release of Young AJ's first solo mixtape Its My Time hosted by the popular DJ Spinatik. Shortly after, AJ dropped follow-up mixtape Its My Time Vol 2: Play Still in Motion hosted by DJ Spinatik and DJ Christion. An instant local smash, it featured Grand Hustle/Atlantic recording artist Young Dro, Tom G and Javon Black. It was an even bigger success for Young AJ in the streets.
