ZimExpo congratulates the winners at USA 2012 and challenges the Diaspora to take action

June 4, 2012 - PRLog -- The weekend kicked off  with  Awards recognizing members of the community in conjunction with the African Diaspora Coalition of North Carolina. This included Sportsperson Award to Joseph Ngwenya, Outstanding Student Award to Mazvita Maziveyi, Business Person Award to Stephen Simunyu, Community Leadership Award to Reverend John Gumbo and Posthumous Businessperson recognition to Maximo Mukelabai.

Vanessa Mbedzi was crowned Miss Zimbabwe USA 2012. The 20 year old is a Business student at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Host soccer team Shepherd’s House Football club of Raleigh, won the coveted soccer tournament trophy and Zim Atlanta placed second.

The business forum panel included Dr. David Katerere who discussed doing business in Africa,  Dr. Jabulani Dhliwayo presented  ICT opportunities and  Dr Godfrey Sikipa with ZimHealth, a charitable organization which provides medical supplies and equipment to Zimbabwe. Attendees were challenged to pool resources and take action – regardless of where in the world they are. Several local companies were represented including  Braaitime, Cargo Link, Cassandra’s Kitchen, Empowered Men’s Ministries, the book Endless Journey  by  Jabulani Dhliwayo,  Fika Travel Tours, IHI Modeling agency, Leah African Designs, Munhu.org, Nubian Caterers, Sadza.com, Shepherd’s House, the book Sun baked Love  by Tsitsi Gladys Madzongwe , ShopAfrika.com and Yambuka.

Esau Mavindidze with Zimbabwe Business Network International also encouraged companies and organizations from Zimbabwe to participate and bring first hand information and opportunities not just to the Diaspora but also to the business communities where each event is held.
