Jun. 4, 2012 - Hawthorne, NJ – June 4, 2012 – Akadema endorser Bryce Harper has earned The Rookie of The Month Award, for the month of May. David Murphy was the last Akadema endorser to win this award, and he did it in April of 2008, and Ryan Church was the last Nationals’ rookie to earn this award in May of 2005. In May, Harper has played in 28 games, hitting .271, with 21 runs, and 4 triples. The 21 runs lead all National League rookies in May. He also ranked first in at-bats for rookies with 107, and his 2 stolen bases were tied for first. Harper, 19, had 29 hits, which ranked second among rookies, and his four home runs ranked third, while also compiling 10 RBI’s. Harper played catcher in high school and college, but the Washington Nationals drafted him as an outfielder stating the move would help his development in the minors, and extend his professional career. Harper is now batting .288, with 22 runs, 34 hits, 5 home runs, and 12 RBI’s on the season. Harper uses a custom AMR 34 model glove, and in 2010, Akadema signed the phenom to a long-term glove contract.
