The most compelling stories will be considered for KINDNESS THE MOVIE. INTERVIEW WITH ALORA by Breee Reichert won the Special Jury Award.
By: Kindness The Movie There were close to 100 entries to the contest, from throughout the United States, Canada, the UK and the Middle East. Included in the entries was INTERVIEW WITH ALORA by Breee Reichert winning the Special Jury Award of $500. Winner, Reichert shot INTERVIEW WITH ALORA in her hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. The video is an interview with the director's friend Alora, a recent high school graduate who speaks honestly about being diagnosed with cancer, and the transformative effect of kindness during her illness. This moving tribute to the healing power of kindness was chosen for its sincerity and for the universality of its message. KINDNESS THE MOVIE is a crowd-sourced documentary project that seeks to bring together stories from around the world for a kindness revolution and is directed/produced by Eva Ilona Brzeski who edited the award-winning documentary UNDER OUR SKIN (shortlisted for Best Documentary Oscar). KINDNESS contest entrants were judged on pure inspiration and not video professionalism. “After a long and hard deliberation our jury has decided to use our prizes to honor more entries rather than only the top two, which feels more truthful to the actual results,” said producer Eva Ilona Brzeski. Awards of Merit (certificate and cash prizes of $100) went to the following: Kindness of Friends by Echo Zen; I am in the Act of Kindness by Kaitlin Williams and Brooklin Wiggins; Magic Cupboard by JP Greenly; Kindness by Marilyn Ortiz; Pass it On by Maia Mann; Kindness in the World by Amanda Curry; Kindness by Alexa Porter and Kindness is a Very Big Thing by Danish Khan. Entries included film and digital productions from a variety of mediums. Entrants ranged widely in age, background and experience, from students and business people to those with more traditional training in film and video production. KINDNESS is an independent documentary project and the jury was made up of industry professionals who donated their time in order to support kindness in the world. Our lives are filled every day with kindness - the more we can recognize the kindness of others, the more peaceful this world will be become. KINDNESS THE MOVIE is eager to shift the media consciousness in a positive direction by focusing on the myriad of kind acts being shared every day.
