New online marketing course for translators only

Approved for 10 continuing education points by the American Translators Association, new “at your computer” marketing program exclusively for freelance translators and small agencies.

June 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Announcing the “New Leaf Marketing Program” at http://www.ForTranslatorsOnly.com. For independent translation professionals and small agencies who want to approach direct clients in the U.S.

The course was developed to fill the need for affordable, industry-specific training among the “79.2% of U.S. Translation and Interpretation Firms having 0-4 employees” (tandibusiness.blogspot.com/2009/06/fragmented-translation-industry.html).

Because there are so many micro businesses (1-4 employees as shown in chart at http://www.targetmarketingmag.com/article/four-imperatives-smart-marketing-small-medium-business-415739/2#), there seems to be no end to the generic marketing packages targeting any and all industries. Usually, these entail endless membership fees and other payments. Importantly, they fail to offer advice and information specifically tailored to language service providers.

With an overall goal to elevate the industry’s image, the program provides practical, actionable information. Translators without formal training in marketing gain insights into addressing the “commodity thinking” and “low barriers to entry” typified as industry obstacles.

Participants gain business-building skills to convey their true value to prospects and clients:
•   systems to make them memorable to prospective clients
•   strategies to talk about language services and the nature of translation
•   sales tools to establish their professionalism

Five components, in narrated PowerPoint slides and downloadable worksheets, are covered over 20 weeks:

•   The right way to run a marketing campaign
•   The “trade-secret” techniques to make websites work harder
•   Marketing myths and truths
•   Strategies for higher-level issues in messaging
•   Essentials to become your own marketing wordsmith

The New Leaf course was developed by Brand Image Consulting founder and messaging strategist Susan Remkus, former project and marketing manager at a small translation agency. Remkus is a guest contributor to MultiLingual magazine, “The leading source of information for the language industry and businesses with global communications needs” http://multilingual.com/aboutMultiLingual.php.

The site was developed and designed by http://www.VisibilityConsultants.com.
