When asked, Scott Shaver Owner of GMS Vacations, Knowing this why did you add online booking to your website? “Shaver stated, I feel that we need this option for our returning and new customers that know what they are looking for!” Shaver also added, “I still think that using a travel agent is the best route when booking your vacations. Should anything go wrong while on your vacation you have a live person to help with any issues, we will be there for our customers weather they book online with us or over the phone.”
Shaver's wife Debra (co-owner) added, “Now we offer the best of both worlds to our customers, They will get our great service and very competitive pricing either way! we will still match most online prices offered by the big booking companies, just with the service of using a travel agent.”
Next I asked, why are people going back to using a travel agent over online booking sites?
Mrs Shaver said, “ I think that there are many reasons for it, two reasons, I feel are the service and knowledge that a travel agent provides.” Debra added, “Have you ever visited websites like Pissed Consumer and checked out what people say about online booking companies? I know that everything you read there is not always the truth, but I am sure a good amount of it is! I have read on there many times of people having a problem on their vacation, they call their booking company only to get a voice mail, and no response for two or three days! A travel agent would never let that happen!”
Mr Shaver added, “We don't want to be that company!” Also saying, “That is why we hadn’t had online booking in the past, I think people are afraid to take the chance on booking a blind vacation. As I said before, it is a convenience for those that already know what they want.” I think that when ever booking vacations you should use a travel agent, even if it's not us! Scott said. Adding, “ Any travel agent will be more than willing to try to match prices with the online booking companies, and they will be the first to tell you if they can't match or beat the price.”
Debra added, “ Even if you pay a little more, you know that a travel agent has your back, they are going to do everything in their power to keep you as a life long customer! And making your vacation the best possible is how that is done.”
