End Hunger: Walk the World, Sunday 3 June, 2012, 7:00 to 9:00am

TNT logistics in partnership with UN World Food Programme today organised their annual global walk against child hunger to help “End Hunger: Walk the World” started from Lodhi Colony Main Market at 7.00 am.

 
PRLog - Jun. 3, 2012 - ALL OVER INDIA, India -- June 3rd, Delhi,India– In a world where more than one billion people don’t have enough to eat, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), together with its major corporate partner TNT had their annual global walk against child hunger on Sunday, 3rd  June 2012 to help “End Hunger: Walk the World”.
Government dignitaries, UN agencies, WFP corporate partners, their employees, friends and families were part of the walk across 24-time zones in 24 hours, to raise awareness about hunger for one day, and raise money to feed poor school children.
The walk started from Lodhi Colony Main Market witnessed people from all age groups. Prominent personalities likeMr. Bob Hiensch, Netherlands Ambassador to India, Ms. Jan Henderson New Zealand High Commissioner and Mr. J. K. Raman Head-External Relations & Advocacy – WFP also participated in the walk.
The popular city ‘Cycle for Fun’ group, Green Pedals was also a part of the walk.     cyclists of Green Pedals from varied backgrounds showed their support and solidarity by being part of the event yesterday.

“End Hunger – Walk the World”, provides a powerful demonstration of public support for WFP’s fight against hunger, with employees from the three supporting companies walking together with friends and family, as well as celebrities, local dignitaries, and WFP employees.  In some countries, children who have benefited from the WFP school feeding programme walked in solidarity.

"End Hunger: Walk the World" evolved from an initiative of TNT employees in Asia in 2003. Currently in its tenth year, the event has mobilized approximately 1 million participants and raised funds to feed over 100,000 children in school for one year over the past few years.WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 90 million people in more than 70 countries.

TNT is a global express delivery company serving more than 200 countries. Since 2002, they have been an active partner of WFP and to date have invested over $50 million in the partnership.  TNT founded Walk the World in 2003 as an engagement event for its employees.
