June 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Many communities are replacing the fabric banners that festoon their main streets with metal works of art that are more cost effective, and are customized to the city center.

In Hoisington, KS, metal banners feature the history, flora and fauna of the Cheyenne Bottom basin. The intricate wildlife illustrations have inspired a banner walking tour and a scavenger hunt.

Brochures are distributed via the Hoisington Main Street Welcome Center. Visitors and locals can have an artistic, historic, and educational experience as they are challenged to travel downtown streets seeking blue heron, quail, mallard ducks, the banner with the most songbirds, the one depicting a tornado, and more.

Details on the costs, pros and cons of metal banners appear in the June issue of "Downtown Promotion Reporter."
