PRLog - Jun. 1, 2012 - It will be lights, camera, scalpel for attendees at the August 19-23 Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference. In a unique educational session, an Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction surgery will be viewed by the thousands of workers’ compensation experts from a variety of disciplines—including claims adjusters, risk managers, agents and brokers, and medical and legal professionals.

The surgery will be performed live at the conference hotel, the Orlando Marriott World Center, by Randy Schwartzberg, MD, of the Orlando Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Schwartzberg is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, fellowship trained and board certified in sports medicine and specializes in knee and shoulder injuries. As a 2011 recipient of the Florida Orthopaedic Society Injured Worker Inspiration Award, Dr. Schwartzberg helped a Cirque du Soleil La Nouba trampoline performer return quickly and successfully to his rigorous performing act at an elite level after a knee dislocation injury that is typically career ending. Dr. Schwartzberg performs and publishes research and teaches advanced knee and shoulder arthroscopic skills to orthopaedic surgeons throughout the United States.

Steven E. Weber, DO, a board certified spine surgeon at Orlando Orthopaedic Center who specializes in Adult Spinal Reconstruction, will be on location to assist with questions from the audience.

The surgery will be performed on Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 8:45 to 9:45 am.

ABOUT WCEC & WCI
Now in its 67th year, the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC) is the must-attend event for C-level executives, risk managers, claims adjusters, insurers, and medical and legal experts. Presented by the Workers’ Compensation Institute (WCI), the conference offers attendees an extraordinary opportunity to connect with their peers and learn from nationally recognized experts.

Ongoing registration for the 2012 gathering reflects the global perspective of the conference, with an expected 8,000 participants from over 35 states and a number of foreign countries. The conference itself has been expanded to four days to accommodate the several hundred speakers presenting discipline-specific programs, break-out sessions and CEU opportunities. Of particular interest are a National Trends’ program featuring three national medical directors; a Risk Managers’ break-out paneled by two insurance company presidents; and a two-day “Center for Excellence: The Study of Medical Cost Drivers in Workers’ Compensation,” sponsored by Liberty Mutual Additionally, more than 300 exhibitors will present information on their products and services.

The 2012 Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference will be held August 19-23 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

The WCI (www.wci360.com) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization that serves as a comprehensive resource to all members of the workers’ compensation community. The WCI is an outgrowth of the long-established Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute. FWCI remains in existence under the WCI umbrella and continues its Florida focus, while the national organization provides a broader outreach across all states.
