Philly Mochas Care- “Nurturing the Dream” Education Conference

Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Chapter of Mocha Moms, Inc. (MMPC), has made this initiative the driving force in our chapter’s outreach efforts. Dedicated to our children and their future, we have developed our 1st Annual Mocha Cares Education Conference, to take place Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 11am-4pm. This year’s topic, “Nurturing the Dream,” will explore the plethora of extra-curricular programs and courses available to prepare our “dreamers” for the reality of their ambitions. Our children have dreams that reach far beyond today’s classrooms. With all the technical and industrial innovations that have taken place within the past 25 years, their goals, if nurtured properly, can become the reality of our future generations. Unfortunately, the support we rely on from the educational system is constantly fighting off one budget cut after another. We will be hosting a day of inspiring presenters and empowering activities; and of course fellowship with other like-minded individuals, committed to enriching the lives of their children.

Committed to this mission, and driven by the spirit of community activism, Mocha Moms, Inc. adopted the initiative, “Closing the Gap on Minority Achievement,” which focuses on the health, educational and financial disparities which currently exist in our country. The Closing the Gap initiative focuses on the minority educational achievement gap which is a national problem that plagues almost every school district in the nation. With 100 chapters throughout the country, we continue to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of children and families throughout the entire country.

The late Whitney Houston said it best in her hit song, “Greatest Love of All,” when she quoted “the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.” However this is easier said than done; our children are the unfortunate victims of an imbalanced fiscal budget, where funds formerly used for quality staff and supplies have been used to bail out unethical business practices. Now, we put out a call to action as today’s youth need us the most they ever have before.

The event will take place at The Shipley School- Avery Silverman Dining Hall, 814 Yarrow St., Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 (Montgomery Avenue Entrance). There is a lot of opportunity for exposure as the venue is surrounded by many public and private education centers, recreational centers and countless citizens dedicated to advancing our children. We are expecting to attract over 150 attendees who will be ready to discuss the needs of their children.
