In conjunction with this new designation, Carlton Court, which also is located on the 12-acre senior campus, will specialize in providing memory care services. In addition, the campus includes the Rehabilitation Center, which assists patients of all ages address the physical limitations resulting from an illness, injury or surgery; and the Medicare-certified Allendale Nursing Home.
"Throughout the years, as our residents' health and wellness needs have changed, so have our levels of support," said Hector R. Giancarlo, M.D., F.A.C.S., founder and president of The Allendale Community for Mature Living. "This designation allows The Atrium to provide fully licensed assistive services to help older adults with daily tasks in the comfort and privacy of one's own apartment."
The Atrium also provides personal, customized care plans to satisfy each resident's current and future needs. In addition to health monitoring at an on-site health monitoring station and C.N.A. and registered nurse supervision, services include help with bathing, dressing and grooming; nutritional counseling and meal planning; medication reminders and management; and on-site physical, occupational and speech therapy. Exercise programs also are offered along with appointment reminders and local transportation.
The new certification allows the residence to accept long-term care insurance and veteran's benefits as partial or full payment for the monthly fee, depending upon each individual's coverage benefits and requirements.
New Hand-Painted Lobby Murals
The Atrium Assisted Living is the new destination-
"Many of the people who pass through The Atrium's lobby have traveled throughout the world, and the artwork evokes their memories, through motif, color and re-creations,"
The custom works were created by artist Giuseppe Aldama to transport senior residents, family and staff members and guests to international landmarks, cafés, landscapes and cityscapes. Raised in Cuba before immigrating to Boston in 1967, the widely traveled native of Italy studied in Spain, Paris and throughout Europe.
"The doors of The Allendale Community are always open for visits from area residents, who are more than welcome to stop by The Atrium Assisted Living to enjoy our lobby artwork or participate in one of our many activities,"
Built in 1989 as an apartment-rental senior living community for independent older adults, The Atrium has incorporated a range of supportive services through the years to address the needs of an aging population. It has been continually renovated in stages to offer the most contemporary designs and latest services.
"Residents continue to be cared for by our qualified, long-term staff members who are familiar to them and knowledgeable in their care," added Dr. Giancarlo.
Developed in stages beginning in 1967, The Allendale Community for Mature Living pioneered modern-day eldercare. Today, the campus remains physician-owned and operated, housing three full-service senior residences that bridge the gap between skilled nursing and subacute services as well as memory care and assisted living. "Our goal is and has always been to help older adults remain as active and self-sufficient as possible throughout the natural aging process," said Dr. Giancarlo.
The Allendale Community also has forged strong partnerships with area hospitals, including The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack and Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y.
Located in a quiet suburban neighborhood in Allendale, N.J., just off Route 17 South, The Allendale Community for Mature Living was one of the first retirement communities in the region to incorporate three fully licensed levels of residency offering a continuum of care in one location. The Community also offers a Respite Short-Term Stay Program as well as the Senior Social Club, an adult day program.
