Educating the public on the importance of safety while celebrating the joys of water sports, the annual event focuses on ENFORCING the ABC&D’s of water safety, with a BIG emphasis on A-adult supervision.
“Even with the anticipation of wind and cooler weather, we had a great turnout,” states Joe Vassallo, water safety advocate and president of Paragon Pools. “It just proves that parents are concerned with keeping their families safe and exposing all of the family members to proper activities around pool, lakes and other water ways.”
“The YMCA has been a great partner for many years, providing the perfect host site for the event with multiple pools and a kid friendly water park.” The YMCA has a diverse array of water programs from infant swimming classes to adult sessions.”
The three-hour event featured exhibits, hands-on activities, learn-to-float classes, open swimming in the award-winning YMCA water park and appearances by local news personalities Heidi Hayes and Ted Pretty from FOX-5, LV Metro’s McGruff , Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Firemen and fire trucks, and of course the Paragon Pools’ water safety mascot, Duckie.
Duckie receives assistance from the following organizations in promoting water safety: the YMCA, KVVU-Fox-5, Las Vegas Metro Crime Stoppers & Volunteers, Las Vegas and Clark County Fire & Rescue, KTNV-TV13, The Morning Blend, the APSP, Leslies Pool Supplies, UMC and the Southern Nevada Health District.
