Drive. This annual, charitable event sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion kicks
off at noon with a great San Diego band, “Private Domain”, who’ll play classic songs of
Rock ‘n’ Roll past. At 5 P.M. the genre changes to country when “Swingshift”
stage and plays classic and current country music till closing at I0 P.M. Other bands performing
will be Jakes Moutain, Highway 79, Malaki, Samantha Callahan and Wathen.
There is a huge dance tloor, twinkling lights and warming fires at night that recreates the
country atmosphere of events of the past. Barbeque, featuring slow cooked Santa Maria
Style Tri-Tip, barbeque chicken, 1/4 lb hot dogs and brats with all the fixins complete the
menu. Beer, wine and soft drinks are also available. Food and drink are available at a separate cost.
Tickets in advance are $8.00, $10.00 at the door and kids ten and under are $5.00 for a
full day and evening of entertainment. On site parking at the event is free. Kickstand
pads for bikers are also available. Please leave your furry friends at home.
There are two-step and country waltz lessons for adults, a pie eating contest
and get your face on a custom wanted poster.
There are also lots of activities for the kids like a huge jump, and
massive fun for everyone at this annual outdoor event in the beautiful backcountry of Julian.
