May 30, 2012 - PRLog -- UPPERVILLE, Va.—Holly Allison was an integral part of her community.  She had a passion around everything she undertook which included saving animals and the environment.  And all who knew her would say that she had a big heart. To see her in action and experience her enormous energy, few realized that she had heart problems at an early age.  In college, she was an accomplished ballet dancer and, while she twirled and leaped and danced, her heart just could not keep up. At 30 years of age, Holly was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and she had her first open heart septal-myectomy at age 36 and a heart transplant at age 47.

Last year, at the age of 51, Holly’s transplanted heart just gave out and she gracefully succumbed to heart failure. But, for the many who knew her, her charitable work and good deeds live on.

“Holly was such a light in the lives of so many,” said Elizabeth Trautman, a long time friend of Holly’s. “And she always loved a good party—she would love the event we’re planning for July 14.   She would want to be right in the middle of it all.”

Hollypalooza—a Music Festival with a Great Big Heart will take place on Saturday, July 14 from noon to 6 p.m. at The Blackthorne Inn (10087 John S Mosby Highway, Upperville, Va. 20184.)  Proceeds will benefit the Fauquier Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Heart Transplant Fund at INOVA Heart and Vascular Institute. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door on the day of the event. Children 12 and under are admitted free.  Advance tickets may be purchased at The Blackthorne Inn (email info@blackthorne-inn.com to reserve a ticket), or visit McMahon’s Irish Pub (380 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, Va. 20186).

Entertainment will include Bryan Fox, Gary Smallwood, August, Steve Hagedorn and Friends, Jiamie Pyles, The Elizabeth Lawrence Band, and others. A silent auction will feature a wide array of gift certificates to local restaurants, spas, overnight stays, as well as artwork, jewelry, polo packages, wine packages and more. The auction preview takes place at noon with bidding held from 2 to 4 p.m. A kid’s corner will feature children’s activities and face painting.

There will be plenty of great food and vendors for shopping.
