Are you the master of the grill? Do your friends and family beg you to barbecue? Are you the Wolfgang Puck or Rachael Ray of the Great Outdoors? To kick off grilling season, Bistango, one of Orange County's finest restaurants, is hosting its inaugural Great American Grill-Off, a search for Southern California's finest and most creative grill master. If you have a special recipe that is unique and delicious, submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Five finalists (not professional chefs) will be invited to engage in a competition that will take place on Bistango's lush patio Friday, June 8 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Live music, complimentary appetizers and the introduction of a special summer cocktail will be served at the free public event that will also feature a swimsuit fashion show sponsored by SwimSpot. A panel of judges consisting of food & restaurant critics will name the winner of the Grill-Off, who will receive a $1,000 dining extravaganza at their choice of 3 of OC's top restaurants, Bistango, Kimera in Irvine and Bayside in Newport Beach; runners up will enjoy gift cards to the three dining establishments. (Finalists must be in attendance at the Grill-Off to be considered.)
"What better way to usher in the summer than by inviting grilling fanatics to participate in this first-time-ever event," said John Ghoukassian, Bistango's owner. "We're looking forward to celebrating the start of al fresco dining on our patio with new and old friends."
Celebrating 25 years of artful dining, Bistango is renowned for its diverse menu of fine American cuisine set in an airy atmosphere distinguished by fine art exhibits and large umbrellas that suspend from the ceiling lending great intimacy. An extensive cocktail list of classics and house specialties and a 400-bottle wine list that was heralded by Wine Spectator round out the offerings. Bistango serves lunch and dinner weekdays and dinner-only Saturdays. Live entertainment can be enjoyed each evening in its sophisticated lounge where couples may enjoy dancing the night away. Its vast patio features comfortable seating, heat lamps and full food & beverage service. For more information visit www.bistango.com or call (949) 752-5222.Photo:
