Follow on Google News | SIF Association AU Tri-Borders Project wins silver at the IMS Learning Impact AwardsThe SIF Association is pleased to announce that the Tri-Border’s SIF Project recently won a Silver Award at the international Awards Ceremony of the IMS Learning Impact Awards Competition on 16 May 2012 in Toronto, Canada.
By: SIF Association “Schools engaged with the project now have a greater understanding of the issues surrounding student mobility and transiency. They are engaging in activities that acknowledge student movement and are focusing on working collaboratively across jurisdictions to improve students’ attendance and literacy and numeracy performance. Immediate access to the shared collection of student data provides staff with insight into their teaching and learning needs” explains Karen Webster, Director, Curriculum & Student Services Support, Department of Education Western Australia. Master Data Management is performed on the student data so that unique student records are created from multiple sources; providing teachers and school administrators with easy access to the full picture of a student; regardless of how many times the student changes schools or crosses borders. This Master Data Management is of great importance as it involves the transient population. Many learners move between jurisdictions within a given year. In addition, depending upon which jurisdiction the student resides, the name of the student may be different. Collecting and reporting all of the information about a student at any given time or location is critical in meeting their specific learning needs. “The IMS global learning impact awards showcase the best in standards based ICT education projects”, states Daniel Ingvarson, Program Lead, Projects and Architecture of the National Schools Interoperability Program (NSIP), “we appreciate the opportunity to represent Australia and to have had such a positive recognition for the project team.” For additional information on the Tri-Border’s Project, please visit the SIF Association website: http://www.sifassociation.org/ To read the full press release, please visit the SIF Association Press Room: http://www.sifassociation.org/ About the SIF Association The SIF Association is a unique, non-profit collaboration composed of over 3,200 schools, districts, local authorities, states, US and International Ministries of Education, software vendors and consultants who collectively define the rules and regulations for educational software data interoperability.
