SUNY Ulster Advantage Launched to Prepare Students This Summer Open House June 7

The SUNY Ulster Advantage program will help entering students who placed below college-level on their student assessments improve their writing, reading, math and academic skills; gain confidence in their abilities.

May 29, 2012 - PRLog -- SUNY Ulster has launched a new program to prepare students over the summer for success at college-level coursework.
The SUNY Ulster Advantage program will help entering students who placed below college-level on their student assessments improve their writing, reading, math and academic skills; gain confidence in their abilities; and get early exposure to the college, faculty, staff and services before the fall semester.
A free open house on the program will be held June 7, at 6 p.m., in the Hasbrouck Computer Lab. Light refreshments will be served and faculty will be available to answer questions.
The five-week program will be held July 9 to Aug. 9 from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. on the Stone Ridge campus. Students will meet in small classes with individualized attention and tutoring, working at their own pace on reading, computerized math programs, writing and skills development. The end goal is for students to retake their assessment tests and qualify for college-level courses.
The $50 tuition fee will be covered by grant funding for the inaugural program this summer. To register for the Open House, visit www.sunyulster.edu/visit. For additional information, contact the admissions office at (800) 724-0833, extension 5018 or 5022, or (845) 687-5018 or extension 5022, email:  admissions@sunyulster.edu.
