The company has always operated meticulously with regard to strict recycling and material disposal regulations. With the addition of the accreditations, e-Waste looks to provide an even greater value of security and accountability for their current and potential customers’ assets.

Cleveland explained that being an R2 Certified Electronics Recycler involves heightened compliance in data security and environmental practices and procedures. Data security ensures that all R2 certified recyclers are required to sanitize, purge or destroy data on all hard drives and data storage devices. Compliant environmental practices require downstream due diligence on all vendors handling these materials to ensure materials are handled properly throughout the chain of custody. It also prohibits the export of equipment and components containing materials to developing countries unless the transaction is legal under both the export and import countries’ laws and the receiving facility meets the criteria of an appropriate downstream vendor.*
