Diamond Jubilee Wandsworth has most street parties planned in London SSC Marketing comments

May 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Residents in Wandsworth are set to have the most Diamond Jubilee weekend street parties in London. Research by BBC London shows the council in south-west London has allowed 164 road closures for celebrations on the extended bank holiday weekend. Throughout the capital a total of 1,768 road closures have been granted by councils. “The Diamond Jubilee is a celebration for everyone in the UK its marks a special moment for the queen and allows the Country to celebrate alongside the Royals.” said a source for SSC Marketing.  The snapshot survey was conducted on 3 May exactly one month before the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant is due to take place.


Wandsworth Council said they are choosing to wave its normal £50 road closure fee had helped contribute to the high number of street parties. A spokesman said there was a feeling of "rising jubilee fever". A source for SSC Marketing said “The Diamond Jubilee celebrates 60years on the throne for Queen Elizabeth the second. So we can understand the need to party.” “Celebrating this momentum occasion with a street party is a great idea, street parties are used to unite communities and with that in mind everyone can have a glorious day.” We spoke to one reader who will be attending a street party in their area. “We are so looking forward to the parties and the celebrating to begin. While some may use this as an excuse to go out and get drunk the older residents like myself will be using this time to celebrate the main cause.”


“I grew up in the house I now reside, I remember the day Queen Elizabeth took the throne, to be here 60 years later to be a part of these special celebrations is an experience I will not forget.” said one reader.   Residents in Wandsworth are already planning double the number of street parties that were held to celebrate last year's royal wedding. On that occasion, local people hosted 67 parties - which were the second highest in London.  SSC Marketing said “The whole of the UK is swept up in either Jubilee fever or Olympic fever it is safe to say that over the next few months we will be the hosts of many celebrations.
