Edge-Core switches secures MEF Certification

May 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Edge-Core Networks Corporation, a professional networking solution provider offering a complete range of enterprise-level and service provider/carrier Ethernet networking equipment and services to partners around the world, has announced that the ECS4660-28F is aligned with carrier-class standards for Ethernet aggregation switches and has been certified as MEF-9 and MEF-14 compliant.

The MEF certification programs are designed to accelerate the deployment of Carrier Ethernet services worldwide by offering assurance to corporate, institutional, and government subscribers that certified services strictly match Carrier Ethernet service requirements.

This is a significant development for the rollout and adoption of Ethernet-based infrastructure in SA says Paul Luff, country manager, SMC Networks South Africa.

The tests were conducted by Iometrix, the official laboratory committed to providing globally recognized and trusted certifications for Carrier Ethernet.

Edge-Core Network’s ECS4660-28F Carrier Ethernet Switch succeeded in a number of comprehensive tests determining its readiness to deliver Carrier Ethernet services, and is now MEF 9 and MEF 14 certified.

The two MEF Carrier Ethernet certifications are:
• MEF 9 which verifies that Carrier Ethernet equipment complies with MEF service delivery and performance at the User Network Interface (UNI).
• MEF 14 which verifies that Carrier Ethernet services comply with MEF service performance and bandwidth profile objectives.
