Montgomery County Toastmasters learn about "The Cholesterol Myth" on 5-15-12.

May 26, 2012 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro, IL met on Tuesday May 15, 2012.  Acting president Brenda Masters-Stout led the meeting.  Alan Saeger served as the Toastmaster as well as the Topicmaster.  11 club members and 1 returning guest were present.  

Two members delivered prepared speeches.  Dr. Todd Austin from Austin Family Chiropractic in Virden was the first speaker.  Austin, a Chiropractic Physician who also specializes in Advanced Clinical Nutrition shared "The Truth About Cholesterol and Statin Drugs."  Austin painted a very different picture than the one that the Big Pharmaceutical companies would like us to all believe hook, line and sinker.  His speech fulfilled Project # 9 'Persuade With Power' from the Competent Communication Toastmasters Manual (often referred to in Toastmaster circles as 'The Basic Manual').  

The second speaker was Dennis Viehweg.  Dennis gave a spiritual speech called "Walk To Amaze" which was based on a church-related experience that changed his life for the better.  Dennis is also working out of the same manual noted above.  His talk fulfilled Project # 4 'How To Say It'.  

Kim Noyes was voted "Best Table Topic Speaker".  Mike Meier also received his latest Competent Communicator Award since the previous meeting.  The award is given by Toastmasters International to members who successfully complete all 10 projects in the Basic Manual.  


The club will next meet on Tuesday 6-5-12 at 7 PM at the Challacombe House in Hillsboro.  The scheduled speakers will be Brenda Masters-Stout and Todd Austin.  Those interested in attending either for entertainment purposes or to become better speakers or leaders are encouraged to attend.  For more info, visit:
