Who’s who of the art & culture world attend the inauguration
New Delhi, 26th May, 2012: Delhi Collage of Art, one of the country’s premier art schools kicked off its 10th consecutive annual exhibition with an awe inspiring 350 paintings covering every inch of the four sections that comprise AIFACS art gallery.
Painted by the over 120 artists who are students in the first, second and the final years of Delhi Collage of Art these paintings are on an eclectic mix of themes that are aptly representative of the diverse backgrounds that the artists hail from.
From the wives of the ambassadors of Malaysia and Brunei, to youngsters seeking a career in art and corporate types for whom art is a form of self expression, the students of this art school are truly as diverse a bunch of people as you could possibly find. It was therefore not surprising to find the attendees that included the ace photographer Raghu Rai, who was the chief guest and prominent members of the arts & culture, diplomatic and bureaucratic world.
Said, Ashwani Kumar Prithviwasi, founder and Director of Delhi Collage of Art, “it gives me immense pleasure to see how far we have come over the past decade. From its relatively modest beginnings to being recognized as one of India’s seminal art events, the Delhi Collage of Arts Annual Arts exhibition has truly come a long way.”
