May 28, 2012 - PRLog -- I recently interviewed Hans Paino, president of DoItTennis, about the latest Babolat tennis bags to hit the market. He discussed the French Open line and also talked about what kinds of bags players like to use, what customers look for when buying a bag as well as their suitability for air travel:

CM: What new offerings of Babloat tennis bags are coming out for Spring/Summer 2012?

HP: They're a main sponsor of the French Open, so they're coming out with a French Open line similar to the Team line; instead of the usual black, yellow and white, it's orange and black with a little bit of silver.

There's three different French Open Babolat tennis bags: the 12 pack, 6 pack and the backpack. The X12 is their biggest bag, it holds up to 12 racquets, a lot of players on the tour will be using it.

The X6 holds up to six racquets. It has two main compartments for racquets, then an outside compartment. A lot of people use the X6, if they have two or three racquets they can put it in one compartment and they can use the other compartment for additional stuff like shoes, clothing, balls etc.

Then you have the backpack, it generally fits one, maybe two racquets in the back compartment. You can put some smaller items in there, there's a separate compartment for wet clothes or for shoes.

Their Team line is a better quality product. Last year they had the Club line in the French Open version, but this year they're doing it off the Team version, which is a better quality product.

CM: So do superstars like Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick use the 12 racquet bags?

HP: Almost all players use the biggest bag, and you should see the 12 racquet Babolat tennis bags in the French Open. All tour players use those bigger bags, because they generally have 6-8 racquets in there and they carry additional stuff .

CM: You've been in the business awhile, how often will someone buy a bag because a star tennis player uses it or their name is on the bag?

HP: I think it can happen. There's people out there who want to have exactly what a certain player has, like say, Rafael Nadal. They'll have the same Nike outfit, they'll have the same racquet, they'll have the same bag. I think that most people purchase a bag based on what they're looking for, the color and the brand. If they're a big Babolat person but don't need a big bag, they'll go for the 6 pack or the backpack.

When you get up to the 12 pack, those are people who play on a consistent basis that want to carry some racquets and also some clothes in the same bag and so those are people who play on a regular basis, but they might be inclined to say, “Hey, Rafael Nadal is using that bag, so I want to get that bag.”

CM: How suited are these bags for traveling by air?

HP: They're made lightweight, they're made durable, they're made convenient to carry, so you can use them to carry your racquets, but also with clothes and so forth. If I am playing tennis out of town, I'll bring one or two racquets and put my clothes in there with it. It's very convenient, not too bulky, so it's nice.
