“We strive to teach young girls the power of healthy self-esteem and lifelong benefits of exercise,” said Kori Fitschen, Co-Founder and Director of the Twin Cities chapter.  “We essentially are promoting positive youth development through physical activity.  Our programs teach young girls the value of setting goals, teamwork, and the skills needed to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyle habits through running.”

One of the girls in the program says, “My favorite thing about Girls on the Run is that I get to make new friends, work in a team and express my emotions."

The Girls on the Run curricula addresses all aspects of girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well-being with such topics as the importance of keeping commitments, supporting each other’s goals and good communication skills.
