Based on the beloved film, the stage version of The Wizard of Oz features new songs by award-winning duo Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Dorothy and Toto were chosen by the public on the hit BBC series Over the Rainbow, and runner-up Evans took over the role full-time in February after winner Danielle Hope’s departure. Following in the footsteps of Michael Crawford and Russell Grant, veteran entertainer Des O’Connor steps into the title role on 22 May for the show’s final season. In an exclusive interview with Cheap Theatre Tickets.com, Evans says, “I am so excited! He’s such a gentleman. It’s going to change it up again. It keeps it exciting. And I hear he has got a really lovely singing voice! I can’t wait to hear him sing ‘Wonders of the World.’”
Cheap Theatre Tickets.com managing director Ben Jackson says, “We’re thrilled to be able to offer a chance to see one of our best-selling shows, an exclusive look backstage at the London Palladium, and memorabilia signed by one of the production’s biggest stars.”
Tickets for The Wizard of Oz are on sale through 2 September, and can be purchased online or by calling 020 7492 9930.
