By: Margaret Lamb To meet the heightened demand for blood donations during summer, Georgetown Memorial Hospital is holding a blood drive Friday, June 1. Members of the public are encouraged to donate blood from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the private dining room on the first floor at GMH. Appointments can be made by calling 843.527.7173 or going to http://www.redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are also welcome. In addition to having a valid ID, blood donors must be healthy, be at least 17 years old and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. Blood donors will get a free jar opener and a water bottle while the supply lasts. Georgetown Hospital System is a private, not-for-profit entity. The system consists of Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Waccamaw Community Hospital and several facilities throughout Horry and Georgetown Counties.
