Toronto Concert Orchestra
In its mission to bring music to the people, the Toronto Concert Orchestra goes beyond the geographic boundaries of the Greater Toronto Area, beyond the boundaries of age, cultures, socio-economic divides and the accepted mores of a symphony orchestra to offer classical music with edge; preludes with personality .. symphony for fun.
In the pursuit of artistic excellence, the TCO is mandated to:

-      bring an affordable concert experience to audiences within the GTA as well as artistically underserved communities in south-western Ontario.

-      initiate and cultivate youth appreciation of and participation in the arts.

-      nurture and promote established and emerging performing artists and composers.

Under the artistic leadership of Maestro Kerry Stratton, the Toronto Concert Orchestra is bred from pedigree musical stock!  Internationally-recognized for his sparkling performances across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.  He is known and loved as a personable and charismatic host on Classical 96.3 CFMZ.  For over 20 years, Maestro Stratton has presented “A Little Night Music” – an adult education series of informal lectures and discussions complemented by live music, delivering his vast knowledge in his own inimitable style, liberally punctuated with anecdotes.

TCO is … a full symphony orchestra – professional freelance musicians who perform with major ensembles of the greater Toronto area.  They are engaged in teaching and studio work, and are artists for whom ‘harmony’ is more than a musical term.  It is apparent in their performance and contributes greatly to the ‘audience-friendly’ atmosphere which prevails at a TCO concert.
TCO is ..  an alternative to high-priced orchestral performances.
TCO is ..  for people who didn’t know that they enjoyed classical music.
TCO is ..  good people making good music.
And so the Toronto Concert Orchestra was born .. a response to people who told us “I can’t afford to go to the symphony”, “I don’t know what to wear” and “there’s no symphony orchestra where I live”.  TCO brings what people want to hear – where they want to hear it!
