In his position, Wentz will develop and oversee the execution of the brand’s sales strategy that is focused on developing distribution around the United Sates. With the debut of JTree’s organic sun care lotions at the January 2012 Surf Expo, Wentz has worked on the brand’s expansion into the resort and salon/spa markets, as well as developing new relationships with retailers serving the outdoor and active lifestyle markets.
Since joining the brand in December 2011, Wentz has designed initiatives that coincide with national and regional trade and consumer events including the biannual Surf Expo in Orlando, Fla., Snowsports Industries America (SIA) Snow Show in Denver, Colo., and the Ouray Ice Festival in Colorado.
“JTree is an organic brand supporting healthy and active outdoor lifestyles. The opportunity to carry our values to other markets is increasing,”
JTree’s overall sales for Q1 2012 have more than doubled over Q1 2011. Wentz attributes the increase to improved infrastructure, retailer engagement and the addition of new regional sales representatives, including Hilary Silberman who covers Utah, Eric Harrison who serves the Rocky Mountain region and Wayne Dills in the Northeast.
“Che is a strong leader in the areas of financial management and sales. He has a track record of developing strategies that result in growth,” says David Lawrence, JTree’s president and CEO. “I’m confident that his passion and experience will take the Joshua Tree brand to the next level.”
Prior to joining JTree, Wentz was a sales representative and financial controller at Loki, a leading outdoor outerwear manufacturer where he generated growth in his region of nearly 25 percent while developing and managing a companywide financial plan. He holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a minor in business administration from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo. where he graduated Cum Laude.
