Orbus’ environmental goals reach beyond its own facilities to improve the environment on a local scale. Volunteers picked up garbage and debris in and along local sections of the DuPage River, helping clean and reduce pollutants in and near the river.
“Environmental responsibility is more than what we can do in our own buildings; it’s about what we can do to help the community as well,” said Jim Concannon, Quality Assurance Specialist at Orbus.
The River Sweep is an annual event that began in 1991. Since its inception over 190 tons of garbage has been removed by more than 6,800 volunteers. The amount of trash collected each year declines proving this event has a positive impact on the waterways of DuPage County.
