Daytona producers, Roberto Penalver, Giuli Schacht, and Creative Director, Lou Paris pulled off a win at the 19th Annual Twin Rivers Media Festival in Asheville, NC in the commercial category with their 6 minute film depicting more than 600 dancers spontaneously breaking out in dance at the Daytona 500.
The Flash Mob project was created to showcase the talented and innovative workforce available in the area. Lou Paris unleashed Roberto Penalver, world renowned event director, and Giuli Schacht, an award winning director and producer, and together they began casting and rehearsing the 650 people “whose talent and inspiration exemplify the heart and soul of the people who live in Daytona Beach and Volusia County,” Schacht said. “It became apparent that the heart of the people who wanted to be a part of this project was the true heart and soul of the community. Roberto and I knew instinctively that highlighting the talent of the community told the true story of the spirit of our community,” she added.
Their effort, “Daytona Flash Mob” will be screened Saturday May 26th at the Twin Rivers Media Festival’s Courtyard Gallery and Flood Fine Arts Center at 109 Roberts St. in the River Arts District of Asheville. A complete schedule of winning films can be seen at
