May 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Big Brothers Big Sisters announced today that through the generous philanthropic network of Janeé Harrell and MHE3 Productions, the non-profit’s Arlington office building will be re-roofed and its record retention processes will receive a much-needed technological upgrade. These renovations will be featured on the June 3rd season finale of The Janeé Show, which airs on ABC WFAA 8 Sundays at 11 a.m.

“The proactive generosity shown by these companies will make a significant positive impact on our ability to provide caring mentors for children in Arlington, Fort Worth and all of Tarrant County,” says Jason Ray, Chief Operating Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star.

Community partner TX Canon Construction is reroofing the building that is in dire need of repair. The 10,000 square foot building is located at 205 W. Main Street in the downtown district of Arlington. Big Brothers Big Sisters has owned the building since 1996, and its budget has not allowed for repairs for the past several years.

In addition, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ technology sponsor DOCUmation and volunteers from Cowtown Concierge are helping bring the organization into the 21st Century by updating and upgrading its record retention processes. Over the next three days, volunteers will be scanning and automating tens of thousands of documents that would have cost the non-profit thousands of unbudgeted dollars to organize on their own. Z Interactive is helping to provide a grassroots call to action for those volunteers through a social media campaign that will engage local residents in the local non-profit.

“Just this project alone would have required four full-time Big Brothers Big Sisters employees two-and-a-half years to complete,” says Ray. “This donation of time and resources will enable our staff to instead focus their efforts on serving local children, families and volunteers in the best way possible.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor-supported volunteer organization that places caring adults in the lives of children in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Through the positive impact of those friendships, children with a Big Brother or Big Sister are more likely to graduate from high school and are less likely to begin using drugs, begin using alcohol or engage in negative conflict.
