Follow on Google News | Expert tips to overcome costly server storage issuesEmailogic were recently asked to help an organisation increase network performance and free up server space. This had come after a string of complaints from unhappy staff that everything was running too slowly to be effective.
Director of Emailogic, Marc Powell said “I spent the day in the company, and found a frustrated IT director who knew that the problem was partly a technical issue - but mostly a behavioural one.” PA’s and Admin staff were managing multiple calendars for their managers and poor email management, heavy reliance on group emails and the routine use of “reply to all’s” and copying of large emails had culminated in an overladen network, running slowly and ineffectively – and an increasingly frustrated workforce. Powell continues: “Staff were calling for a new system with faster PCs - without realising the impact that their own ineffective use of email was having.” The IT Director knew the core issue was not network capability - but poor email use. Indeed upgrading the entire network would have been hugely expensive and ultimately unnecessary. Emailogic devised a programme of email etiquette and email management training seminars and webinars to help improve the use of email. An interactive quiz was devised to help get to the core of the email etiquette issues. Outlook clinics and webinar training sessions would help staff get in control of the new features to help them manage calendars as well as using Outlook features to automatically handle large amounts of their incoming mail. As well as face to face and webinar training, Emailogic made their elearning course available to all staff who were able to access the training at a time to suit them and for use on the induction programme. The company’s internal trainers were trained by Emailogic to deliver email training to more staff at a time to suit the company. Email guidelines were produced to act as a daily desktop reminder for all staff when handling their email. The IT Director was delighted that the cost of this extensive training package was to be a fraction of the cost of replacing the company’s hardware – and the company will see immediate measured results.
