Jungle Bob said, “We are planning many educational events to celebrate wildlife and the preservation of it, plus many unique events, exotic animals and their expert handlers to The Outback. We really want people to have an ‘experience’ they can’t get anywhere else on Long Island.  I am very excited to show the public our new Outback – and we already have many people requesting private kid’s birthday parties, Boy and Girl Scout events, Senior programs and even some evening business events too.”

Jungle Bob’s Reptile World is no longer just a ‘pet store’ but Long Island’s destination for reptile aficionado’s, conservationists, naturalists, and people interested in their many educational programs that will be offered in The Outback.  The Outback will now give Long Islander’s a way to see locally native plants and reptiles in their new nature center, without having to trek through the woods.

About Jungle Bob:  Jungle Bob also known as Bob Smith is a life long reptile aficionado and expert in the field of reptiles.  His history of loving and working with reptiles began when his family moved from Hell’s Kitchen in New York City to West Babylon, N.Y. (on Long Island).  As a child in West Babylon he discovered many different reptiles such as garter snakes, frogs, and snapping turtles that he surely didn’t see growing up in Hell’s Kitchen.  His love of reptiles was instant upon stumbling on his first site of a garter snake and reptiles became a lifelong passion. Jungle Bob has been in the reptile industry in one way or another for the past 25 years.  From 2001 to 2005 he was the publisher of a high quality publication called Fauna, a nature magazine focusing on unusual wildlife that was often compared to National Geographic in terms of quality. Post 9/11 he founded the International Fauna Society a 501 c 3 not for profit corporation that produced the magazine; a newspaper called The Keeper, which taught responsible reptile pet ownership and he ran eco travel tours to Costa Rica. He has also been to different tropical rain forests around the world over 40 times.  Jungle Bob also opened the Fauna Serpentarium, a living museum which showcased 200 plus animals in naturalistic vivariums which was in Riverhead, NY.

Today, Jungle Bob continues to pursue his passion to educate people about reptiles through his newest venture Jungle Bob Enterprises, which owns and operates Jungle Bob’s Reptile World, a reptile only pet shop in Centereach, NY. The Jungle Bob LIVE! division exhibits and performs wildlife shows at schools, libraries, senior living residences, boy scout troops and  privately held birthday parties across Long Island, NY The hands on program teaches people of all ages about the ‘Unloved, Unusual and Unknown’ creatures.  Jungle Bob LIVE! presentations has exposed thousands of people to the wonders of nature, while dispelling the negative myths often associated with these animals. Jungle Bob’s mission is to educate the public to understand the importance of conservation at all levels in the animal kingdom.

Jungle Bob’s Reptile World has been voted the Best Reptile Store on Long Island for 2012 by Long Island Press readers and the store is open 7-days a week. Jungle Bob has been featured in: Newsday Business; Newsday Kids; Long Island Business News; Long Island Press; Gem Magazine (online and print); Reptile Magazine; Oyster Bay Guardian; Patch.com; and Suffolk Parent. Recently, Jungle Box worked with Steve and Robbie Keszey aka the ‘Swamp Brothers,’ which airs on the Discovery Channel, to help them with his reptiles at a live nationwide cable show, Fox and Friends.
