London businesses not prepared for Olympic Route Network traffic changes warns Optrak

Optrak urges firms to get ready for the Olympic Route Network. Olympic Torch road blocks will be the first challenge for firms with regular delivery routes into London. Potential disruption to service levels could cost business thousands.

May 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Optrak Distribution Software Limited today urged businesses to step up their plans for coping with the Olympic Route Network.  With the Olympics less than two months away, road blocks accompanying the Olympic Torch will be the first major challenge for businesses with regular customers and delivery routes into London.  The potential disruption to service levels could cost business thousands of pounds unless swift action is taken.

Tim Pigden, Managing Director of Optrak Distribution Software Ltd (http://www.optrak.com/) said, “The feedback that we have had from discussions with various transport companies from SME’s to FTSE organisations indicates that businesses are still struggling to get their Olympic readiness plans in place.  The Olympic Torch Relay will be the first event to have a real impact and it will require businesses to change regular delivery plans.  London businesses and those companies delivering into London need to take action now in order to prevent disruption to deliveries and customer service levels from slipping.”

The Olympic Torch Relay began its 70 day tour path across the country on 19th May and reaches the London area on 21st July.  It will visit different parts of the capital before entering the Olympic stadium on 27th July for the Olympic opening ceremony.  With the Torch Relay drawing sizeable public crowds these seven days will potentially cause added disruption to delivery plans.

Mr Pigden added, “To get an Olympic readiness plan in place, businesses need to first understand which of their customers are most at risk.  This can be a painstaking process looking at each customer location and analysing whether it falls on or near a road that will be affected by the temporary traffic changes.  As different rules apply on different days the impact can vary on a daily basis which multiples the amount of work that has to be undertaken.  By working smarter and using existing tools such as the Optrak Olympic Impact Analysis app (http://olympics.optrak.com), businesses can quickly identify customers at risk and armed with this information, plan to rearrange or retime deliveries or schedule additional resources such as driver’s mates to introduce a greater element of delivery flexibility.”

The Optrak Olympic Impact Analysis app is proven to help businesses review and assess their customer base to determine potential problem areas resulting from the introduction of the Olympic Route Network (ORN), Paralympic Route Network (PRN) and Alternative Route Network (ARN).  The Optrak Olympic Impact Analysis app is free to use for businesses with up to 50 customers, a subscription and corporate licence is available for larger companies.
