Little Rock-May 18, 2012-ONE THUMBS UP, Offering Needed Empowerment Truly Helping Uplift Many By Simply Using Perseverance, presents the 2nd Annual ONE THUMBS UP Weekend. The weekend begins June 21, 2012 and will conclude June 24, 2012. Activities for the weekend include A Day of Service with the Girls and Boys Club, a fashion show, Arkansas Greek Charity Basketball Game, and the finale cook-off.
ONE THUMBS UP was established in memory of Rainia “NeNe” Holmes, younger sister of founder Ryan Holmes. The purpose of the organization is to support and empower special needs youth by providing scholarships, mentorship, and funding and preparing youth for camps and activities including the Special Olympics.
The events of the weekend include:
•Thursday, June 21, 2012-A Day of Service-Founder Ryan Holmes and former Syracuse Women’s Basketball Guard Taneshia Brown will speak with youth at Thrasher Boys and Girls Club. The activity will end with a “Purple Balloon Release” in honor of Epilepsy.
•Friday, June 22, 2012-ONE THUMBS UP will host the Thumbs Up for Fashion fashion show at Philander Smith College Auditorium. The show will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.
•Saturday, June 23, 2012-The 2nd Annual Arkansas Greek Charity Basketball Game at Philander Smith College. Tipoff is at 4:00 pm.
•Sunday, June 24, 2012-Sunday Morning service at 10:30 am at Wesley Chapel located on the campus of Philander Smith College. A finale cookout will be held at Burns Park at 2:00 pm.
