The Greensheet, the original classified publication of Texas, is reaching out to specific Austin groups to place free classified ads for bicycles and bike products in Austin from now through September. The promotion applies to both individuals and certain businesses chosen by The Greensheet Classified Department.
“Austin is one of America’s major bike cities,” said Kathy Douglass, CEO of the The Greensheet. “We are happy to promote exercise, healthy living and the cycling lifestyle that is so strong in Austin.”
Finding Bikers
Austin is full of groups, clubs and associations dedicated to biking. It is also full of stores selling bike merchandise, spanning from well-known shops with name brand bikes and equipment to student stores where local bikers can swap gear and get basic upgrades.
By contacting the full range of bike merchandise groups, businesses and individuals, The Greensheet plans to greatly increase the bike section of the paper to make it a powerful resource for Austin bike hobbyists.
Embracing Austin Culture
Biking is a large part of Austin’s culture. The area is well-known for a wide range of cycling activities, such as group rides, mountain biking and even tandem cycling. The terrain and scenery of Austin contribute partly to its widespread popularity throughout the city. It is also the home of World Famous Cyclist and 7-Time Tour De France Champion Lance Armstrong.
“We know that bikes are popular across most Austin populations, and we wanted to boost encouragement for that part of Austin lifestyle,” said Kay Mize, The Greensheet’s Classified Director. “This is a great chance to positively embrace Austin culture.”
