- May 22, 2012 - PORT HURON, Mich. --
The Blue Water Film Festival (BWFF) is launching a contest to select the name for a new Canadian award to be given at the 2012 BWFF. This award will be the Canadian counterpart to the festival’s prestigious “Golden Mitten” award which is given to a Michigan film industry professional each year. The contest is open to Ontario residents only and will conclude on Friday, June 22. To submit an award name suggestion, Ontario residents can go online to www.bluewaterfilmfestival.com and click on the “Ontario Award Naming Contest” tab. The entry should be a word or phrase that the submitter feels is representative of the Province of Ontario, its residents or its heritage (e.g. Michigan is commonly called the Mitten State). The winner will receive two VIP all access passes to the 2012 Blue Water Film Festival on October 5 and 6 and have an opportunity to meet the yet to be announced Ontario award recipient .
This award is designed to honor a current or former Province of Ontario resident who has made a significant impact on the landscape of the entertainment industry throughout their career.
The inaugural honoree of Michigan’s “Golden Mitten” award was Emmy Award-winning Actor and Director Timothy Busfield. Busfield hails from Lansing, Michigan and accepted the “Golden Mitten” at the 2011 BWFF.
