The symposium tracks are based on the SMRP Body of Knowledge, which contains five validated pillars of information essential to the success of maintenance and reliability professionals. The five pillars are Business Management, Manufacturing Process Reliability, Equipment Reliability, Organization and Leadership, and Work Management.
In addition to the symposium, a golf tournament will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at Moody Gardens Golf Course. The tournament raises funds to support the chapter's scholarship initiative. The scholarships are awarded to students studying manufacturing disciplines at educational institutions located in the Gulf Coast region. MaRS 2011 raised over $35,000 for the fund.
"Last year, nearly 230 professionals attended the symposium and over 250 attendees are expected this year," says Houston Chapter SMRP Chair Steven Eubanks. "Year after year, MaRS attendance increases as well as attendance at our quarterly meetings. We believe attendees at both events take valuable skills back to the plant which increases profits, reduces unscheduled outages which satisfies stockholders and management alike".
