May 22, 2012 - PRLog -- The team at EC Electronics are delighted to announce that they have recently been awarded ISO 14001:2004 accreditation, which recognises the company’s commitment to their environmental policy.

The new accreditation adds to the Basingstoke-based company’s already extensive range of standards and qualifications, and assures their clients of the high value they place upon running an environmentally considerate and ethical business.

The ISO 14001 group of standards are designed to establish how a business can enforce an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). As an internationally recognised accreditation, the award recognises firms which maintain the profitability of their enterprise whilst reducing the impact their processes have upon the environment. In gaining 14001 status, EC Electronics are committed to ensuring that the implications of their operations upon the natural world are minimal.

With environmental issues of paramount importance across the globe, pressure to comply with stringent restrictions and controls is being felt from a number of sources – from governmental bodies, NGOs and trade associations, to shareholders and consumers.

ISO 14001:2004 sets a series of requirements regarding an organisation’s legal stance on ensuring their systems, processes and general management is compliant with environmental standards.
The environment a key consideration when it comes to securing more contracts, and EC Electronics’ compliance to such pre-desired standards as ISO 14001 is sure to open many new doors. The company applies these standards to its test, repair and end of life service for business equipment, assuring the safe disposal and recycling of units that are beyond repair as standard.

Kevin Osgood, EC’s Quality Manager, comments:

“I am very pleased to confirm that our policy over the past few years in recognising the importance of achieving the right economic balance between environmental management and business activities has culminated in the achievement of formal certification to the ISO 14001 standard.

“This is due in no small part to our commitment to encourage and train our staff in this policy and enlist their support in improving the company’s performance in this area, as we do for our manufacturing processes. It goes without saying that we will continue to work with our customers and suppliers on potential environmental issues and work with them to address any concerns.”

From the EC Electronics’ sites in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and Petrosani, Romania, the manufacturer delivers a full range of ISO 9001:2008 approved Contract Electronic Manufacturing Services (CEMS) to customers both in the UK and Europe. Both factories work together to provide a comprehensive service covering the introduction and fast turnaround of new products as well as facilities for larger orders and scheduled applications. EC Electronics’ manufacturing operations are supported by a central materials and logistics unit based at company headquarters in the UK, which provides world wide procurement of components, supporting the manufacturing services at both sites. EC also offers clients a managed supply chain service for the procurement of products from Chinese and South East Asian manufacturers, via its Hong Kong based subsidiary company EC Supply Chain Solutions.
