The Holstar’s Hip Hop Journey started at a young age in 1993 when he was influenced by one of the Biggest Hip Hop acts of the time ‘Snoop Doggy Dogg.’ It was not so much the lifestyle and braggadocio that caught his attention but the rhyme structure, fundamentalism and of Course the baselines and strings in Dr.Dre’s production.
The Holstar also listened to a lot of RnB music throughout the 90s including acts such as Boyz II Men, R.Kelly and most notably Jodeci. In High school he took to writing Poetry and eventually this developed into a talent of rhyming and freestyling over instrumentals available from Different Hip Hop Artists. Years later; The Holstar met current Producer Pope, who he has worked with on the majority of his catalogue. Other acts the Holstar works with include Al Kani, Dope G, Jay Rox, Verbal Assasin and Thugga, collectively they are known as the Zone Fam.
Throughout his career Holstar has worked with different artists and producers from South Africa, Germany, America, UK, Argentina, Nigeria and Gambia. He continues to collaborate and promote Zambian Hip Hop. He is also the proprietor of Slam Dunk Records in which he produces and manages several artists not only in Hip Hop but other genres as well.
