Jeffrey Siegel, Director of the Life Safety Division for American, has recently been elected as the President of the New York Fire alarm Association. New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) has contracted American to service 231 community and daycare centers and buildings in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. Other new contracts for American's Fire Division include the Downtown Heliport, the Dyckman Farm Museum, FedEx, The Bossert and Mother Ad Agency, to name a few.
In April, 2012, American became the first company to be approved by the FDNY to service fire alarms. The FDNY has begun a certification program to ensure that fire alarms only be serviced by qualified companies and technicians. Beginning in August of 2012, FDNY will write violations to building owners who do not use approved companies for the service and required test and inspection of their fire alarms. The certification is called S97.
