Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation installs 250 kW solar system at Taliesin West

May 21, 2012 - PRLog -- SCOTTSDALE - The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation began an initiative last fall with Big Green Zero®, a team of sustainable energy engineers and planners, called Energizing Taliesin West™. This launch is an unprecedented effort to increase the energy efficiency of Taliesin West while maintaining the historic integrity of the campus.

The first project is a partnership of Big Green Zero, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and First Solar, Inc., one of the world's leading solar companies.  First solar has generously donated the complete custom-designed ground-mounted solar Photovoltaic (PV) system to generate clean electricity for Taliesin West, and have recently completed installation of a 250 kW (AC) array. Power-One, a world-leader in energy efficient power solutions, has generously donated a power inverter to the project.

The new PV system will generate clean electricity for Taliesin West, helping the campus achieve its goal of becoming a net-zero energy consumer and it will also help reduce electrical energy costs by at least one-half on an annual basis.
