Follow on Google News | Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation installs 250 kW solar system at Taliesin WestThe Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation began an initiative last fall with Big Green Zero, a team of sustainable energy planners, called Energizing Taliesin West. The First project, a 250 kW solar system will launch on May 24, 2012.
By: Robert Roth, Ph.D. The first project is a partnership of Big Green Zero, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and First Solar, Inc., one of the world's leading solar companies. First solar has generously donated the complete custom-designed ground-mounted solar Photovoltaic (PV) system to generate clean electricity for Taliesin West, and have recently completed installation of a 250 kW (AC) array. Power-One, a world-leader in energy efficient power solutions, has generously donated a power inverter to the project. The new PV system will generate clean electricity for Taliesin West, helping the campus achieve its goal of becoming a net-zero energy consumer and it will also help reduce electrical energy costs by at least one-half on an annual basis.
