By: Broad and Cassel Lebow, a longtime resident of the Town of Palm Beach, was invited along with 200 influential female CEOs, luminaries and subject-matter experts, to the second annual Wall Street Journal Women in the Economy Conference. Other attendees included Carol Bartz, Former CEO Yahoo! and Autodesk and Denise Morrison, President and CEO, The Campbell Soup Company. Their goal was to create a business-based, data-driven action plan to address an important economic issue: making better use of female talent to promote economic growth and competitiveness in the U.S. and worldwide. “I was very honored to attend this prestigious event and hear a variety of successful female executives express their thoughts on how we can make inroads so that there are more women in the board room and at the top of the corporate or professional ladder. My own experience was validated when I heard others express what I have experienced. I look forward to attending next year and am thrilled that the conference is hosted in Palm Beach County. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Development Board, I am particularly proud to be able to showcase Palm Beach County to these prominent business executives,” The conference is uniquely interactive. In sessions facilitated by the Journal’s editors, the invitation-only membership created content via working groups, voting and vigorous discussions. After hearing from experts in a range of fields and reviewing original research on top Fortune 500 companies provided by McKinsey & Company exclusively for the Task Force, the members developed innovative recommendations for maximizing the potential of women in the workforce. The deliberations from the conference can be found in a special report that was published on Monday, May 7 in both The Wall Street Journal and on WSJ.com. End
