The Township High School District 214 ranked in the top school districts in the nation by the Federal DOE, NSBA and the state of Illinois will host this one-day event on Monday, May 21 at the Township High School District 214, Ill.
The purpose of the 2012 Mobile Computing Showcase is to demonstrate how students and use mobile tablet technology in the classroom. With two years of experience implementing mobile device pilots, District 214 teachers and students will share their experience, expertise and instructional uses with interested D214 staff and the education community anywhere who can benefit before their own adoptions. There will be numerous 45-minute sessions with topics that include: technology support/administration, incorporating iPad with Google Apps for Education, using various apps within content areas, and assistive technology applications. There will also be student poster sessions where staff and visitors can see firsthand what students are doing with mobile devices in their classroom.

1:00-1:45 p.m. Opening Session

3:00-4:00 p.m. Six Breakout Sessions
“Viewers unable to attend the conference in person will now be able to flip through six channels to view the content that best meets their needs and interests across the state and the rest of the world;” shared Keith Bockwoldt, District 214’s Director of Technology. “This program is made possible by the dedicated educators and students who present their discoveries and challenges and we are proud to share their innovative work and success in improving processes and student achievement available to all educators.” Student production teams, managed by JDL Horizons staff, will man the cameras, video switches and run the production.
Superintendent Dr. David R. Schuler adds, “I encourage the greater community to view the live feed of the Mobile Computing Showcase and experience first-hand best practices using mobile technology to successfully prepare students with 21st century knowledge and skills that they will need to succeed in their futures.”
All six concurrent Internet video feeds are made possible in cooperation with the leadership of the Township High School District 214 and in partnership with eSN-TV’s video provider, EduVision by JDL Horizons (http://www.eduvision.tv).
