Billy's nomination story
"In March 2010 I lost my mother to cancer. My life fell apart. I sort solace in a local gym. There I was to meet William (Billy) my personal trainer whose life story and encouragement has given me strength and reason to go on. Billy has always been in sport, gymnastics at 3, U11-U14 Football, Taekwondo black belt at 12, Basketball with Plymouth Canons and Raiders and a National Pool Lifeguard at 16. Whilst with Plymouth Raiders U18 team, Billy was to attend a Basketball Camp in the USA, which would showcase his skills and abilities; if successful it would lead to a scholarship. This was not to be as Billy was diagnosed with Leukamia in May 2006. Billy had chemotherapy which lasted 3 years. Now, 3 years in remission, Billy continues to play basketball, is a lifeguard and has since become a personal trainer and inspires others to achieve their best. I'm 2 years in remission, No longer a lifeguard but compete in National fitness competitions, Crossfit."
Good luck Billy!
